Why agents need a trust layer

An API token only tells you whether a request is authenticated. A trust layer tells you which agent is acting, on whose behalf, which proofs are valid, and whether that agent can be stopped.

A2A makes agents interoperable, but not automatically trustworthy.

As soon as agents act for people, companies, or wallets, a governance problem appears.

A trust layer connects identity, delegation, policies, revocation, and audit.

The problem behind the problem

Many teams start with A2A, OAuth, and a few tool integrations. That is often enough for internal assistants. It is not enough once an agent acts outside a tightly controlled system.

At that point the issue is no longer reachability alone, but accountability: who issued this agent, on whose behalf may it act, what action is delegated, and which proofs are still valid?

What trust must answer

Is this agent real or just an arbitrary endpoint?

Is it bound to an operator, person, or organization?

Which rights were delegated and for how long?

Have credentials, certificates, or policies been revoked?

Can I inspect, block, and audit its actions?

When developers truly need it

For agent-to-agent communication across company boundaries

For wallet, credential, signature, or payment flows

For B2B integrations with compliance or liability requirements

For any delegation model where an agent acts on behalf of a person or company

What ADI contributes in that gap

ADI sits exactly between discovery and transaction. It adds a trust layer that binds together agent identity, organization linkage, policy claims, blocklists, revocation, and verifiable proofs.

That turns a callable agent into an actor that can be governed, audited, and trusted in real transactions.
